Do you know how serious this is? If you’re not doing any form of video marketing in your business right now, you need to keep reading! Video is really blowing up, and as a business owner or marketer you really can’t afford to ignore video marketing. There are so many benefits of making video a part of your marketing plan.

Youtube is owned by Google and it’s actually the number 2 search engine in the world. There are lots of advantages of video marketing;  7 of which we’ll cover as you read on.

Imagine how convenient it would be for your customer if  they could watch a 3 minute video that demonstrates your product, rather than reading a 5 page document. That’s what people want in 2015. Attention is getting shorter and video is quick way of delivering your message, while keeping  your audiences attention.


1) Less competition, more opportunity

Does the thought of recording a video for you business make you nervous? The biggest hurdle for me was making that first video. I can honestly say that it gets easier with practice. In fact,  once you get over that initial fear of making videos, it can be loads of fun, and your customers will love you for it if you do them well.

Most people are afraid getting in front of the camera, so less people do it. You can take full advantage of this because there’s a lot less competition on Youtube than there is on Facebook Twitter. Because there’s less competition, you’ll have a much better chance of getting noticed.

2) Become a celebrity expert

As we’ve all been conditioned to look up to people who we see on screen, you’ll be seen as an authority figure or celebrity in your field when you start making videos consistently. Could you live with that? I’m sure you could.

3) Videos Create Leverage

If you’ve recorded a video of your company presentation, and you’ve uploaded it to your website and sites such as Youtube and Vimeo, your video can do all the ‘heavy lifting’ without your presence.

You could be enjoying dinner with friends at your favourite restaurant, while your sales videos are being watched hundreds or thousands of times around the world; generating interest in your product or service. So you can literally be at more than two places at once. *Wink*.

4) Rank Better In Search Engines

Because Google owns Youtube, any video that ranks well for certain keywords will also appear in Google search results. If you post good videos with the right keywords, you have a better chance of being discovered on the 1st page of Google without using Pay-Per-Click advertising.



5) Video is better for getting your audiences undivided attention

Without having the attention of your audience, it doesn’t matter how great your product or service is, nobody will listen to you or care enough to take action unless you have their attention. Video demands attention like nothing else.  You can’t go for a run while watching a video or do some other distracting activity. You actually have to stop what you’re doing and pay attention.

6) Get Your Point Across Faster

Studies show the brain processes images 60,000 times faster than words. So with video, it’s much easier for someone to grasp the concept of what you’re saying with than it is with a long blog like the one you’re reading now. *Cheeky smile*

7) Video Is Great For Educating Your Audience

The key to creating good video content is to make it informative, entertaining, short and sharable. Show people around your business including your staff, highlighting the culture inside your organisation. Give valuable information that solves the problems that your ideal customer has.

Video is excellent for demonstrating products. If you have a service based business, you can record videos based on powerpoint presentations demonstrating the benefits of your service, share case studies and industry information. It’s the next best thing to actually talking to your customers face to face.

Final thoughts

The cold hard truth is, if you want to be a success with your online marketing efforts, video is absolutely essential. If you’re absolutely terrified at the prospect of getting on camera, you can actually make videos without being in them! There are tools you can use to create whiteboard videos, animated videos and slideshow videos that provide valuable info to your customers and it doesn’t have to smash the piggy bank either.
